New White House blog and Web Analytics

/

Here at LunaMetrics, we thought it was cool that there is a White House blog so soon after the US Presidential inauguration (less than 90 minutes ago.) If our own blog were about SEO, we would make fun of the fact that the new blog has descriptions and even meta keywords, but nothing special in the way of title tags.  (LunaMetrician and SEO Jim Gianoglio caught that one right away.)

Instead, we’ll just point out that while they are using WebTrends Live, they don’t have analytics tags on all pages. We saw that one right away using Stephane Hamel’s WASP tool (you have it, right?) Maybe by the time you look at the new presidential blog, the tags will be there.

On the other hand, how awesome that they have a blog!! (And no matter which side of the aisle you sit on, we really made history today.)

No doubts about it, things are surely going to CHANGE with Obama as the president; as we have already begun to see. So, yes, the campaign had been right all along about CHANGE. I can’t wait to see America turn around in the coming months (or perhaps weeks, -wishful thinking-) he he he.

I wonder if they will do a link exchange with me. I’ll link to them if they link to me first! :~)

Web Trends live was being used in the old Bush era. There’s a round up of the tech changes on the main site at http://blog.builtwith.com/index.php/2009/01/21/whitehousegov-tech-post-inauguration/

CHANGE, yes. Spinning, I think a lot of people are with you.

Avinash. Well, since neither you nor the white house needs to worry much about your SEO, I guess a link exchange wouldn’t hurt your ranking. I will put in a good word with them when they remember to ask my opinion. (BTW, this is the way I feel about GA, and I already KNOW you. I keep saying at lunch, “Why didn’t they ask my opinion before they {fill in the blanks})

Gary, don’t you wonder why they would convert from php to aspx? Jonathan here at Luna thinks that maybe the old stuff they had was already IIS and so they went in that direction. Or they love ISAPI rewrite and can’t do regex?

I thought it was kind of interesting that the US Government spammed this blog, so I left in this comment but took out the life link — Robbin
